Redmi Note 11 finally gets Android 12 update

The Redmi Note 11 was released earlier this year with compelling mid-range specs and a sophisticated design. The device showed the most recent version of Xiaomi’s MIUI skin, the MIUI 13 version. However, there was a big hitch in the version. Xiaomi was unable to deliver Android 12 as the underlying version, despite several months of availability. As a result, the device came with the older version of Android 11. Of course, the company promised to roll out Android 12 in the future. Well, the “future” has finally arrived after a long time. Today, the Redmi Note 11 and Note 11 NFC receive the Android 12 update.

Xiaomi is rolling out the highly anticipated Android 12 update for the handset with build number MIUI 13.0.2.0 SGCMIXM. The update weighs around 2.7 GB and brings the security patch level up to June 2022. It should be noted that the update is being rolled out in batches and for a limited number of users. Apparently, Xiaomi wants to make sure that no critical bugs have gone through the beta phase. If all goes well, the company will likely roll out the update to all users.

It’s worth noting, however, that untrained eyes won’t notice any big differences after the update. Not a big surprise, since MIUI dictates the rules and features of its smartphones. Either way, the update brings improved accessibility support for phones, clocks, and weather. There are also more practical mind map nodes. The update will come to users through the OTA channel. Alternatively, you can head to the Mi Downloader channel to get the firmware in advance.

Given Xiaomi’s usual formula, the Redmi Note 11 will still be eligible for another update to Android 13 in the future. The device is also part of the MIUI 13.5 and even MIUI 14 eligibility list.
